So is this.
Note that this yellow one (and every other yellow one) now has tail feathers. Both dark chicks still have no tail feathers.
Today they enjoyed a different breakfast. Smoked salmon and poached eggs on croissants. Not because that's what I planned to give them but because a grumpy three year old inside refused to eat his. I still added the spiralena powder, shell grit and fish oil capsules.
That's one of the great things about keeping chooks -- there is no such thing as 'wasted' food; anything that isn't eaten inside goes outside to be converted into fresh eggs.
A few of the chicks were a bit independent today, opting for a snooze in the nest when they felt like it rather than staying by Alice’s side every moment.
They have also started preening themselves instead of waiting for their mother to tend to them.
They had the run on the whole chook enclosure today.
Being a special day, New Years Eve, these pretty 7 week old boys took the opportunity to dress-up for the occasion...
Nailpolish!
Simon and the other hens were taking it easy in the deep shade; and Angelina is still sitting on her eggs.
It’s pretty hot in the nursery today but so far she remains committed to hatching her eggs. Another week and we should be inundated with chicks!
